Intention to Use Oral Contraceptive Tool (IUOCT)

Intention to Use Oral Contraceptive Tool (IUOCT) is a 27-item measure designed to understand and predict women's intentions to use oral contraceptives (OC). The items are divided into 4 subscales: 1) Social Norms, 2) Negative Beliefs, 3) Positive Beliefs, and 4) Perceived Behavioral Control.

6. My mother-in-law thinks I should use OCs.
7. Religious leaders think I should use OCs.
8. OCs are easy because family and friends approve of them.
9. My HCP thinks I should use OCs.
10. Using OCs is easy because my husband likes it.
11. OCs are easy because they do not require prescription.

Negative Beliefs
12. OCs cause cancer.
13. OCs cause varicose veins.
14. OCs cause pain.
15. OCs cause serious side effects.
16. OCs cause weight problems.
17. OCs cause sterility.
18. OCs produce birth defects.

Positive Beliefs
19. OCs help me take care of myself.
20. OCs help me maintain my figure.
21. OCs help me control my family size.
22. OCs are easier to use than other methods.
23. OCs help me regulate my menstruation.
24. OCs are the most effective method.

Perceived Behavioral Control
25. OCs are difficult because I have to take them daily.
26. OCs are difficult because of side effects.
27. Using OCs is easy/hard.
