To identify measures for inclusion on EMERGE we rely on input from gender equality and empowerment experts and compile measures based on our reviews of grey and published literature. Only quantitative measures captured directly at the individual level or assessed at the household level are included in EMERGE.  You can read more about how we define measurement and why we focus on quantitative measurement in our project document, What is Measurement and How Do We Quantitatively Measure Gender Equality and Empowerment Report.

Every effort has been made to ensure that information on this website is accurate, inclusive, and up-to-date with the current state of the field. However, as an emerging and discipline-diverse field, we recognize that we may not have captured every measure of gender equality and empowerment or all evidence regarding measures we have reviewed. To inform us of new measures or to update us on the science of measures we have already scored, please submit or modify a measure.
