The Right to Employment measure includes 4 items from Wave 6 of the World Values Survey. The items deal with a women’s right to a job and job related considerations. In particular, items ask about the cost (if the family breadwinner) or benefit (i.e., independence) of being employed as a woman and whether women/immigrants are less entitled to a job than others during trying times.. The World Values Survey consists of nationally representative surveys conducted in almost 100 countries, and was developed to help scientists and policy makers understand global changes in individuals’ beliefs, values and motivations.
